The Desires of Your Heart

Psalm 37 4

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

PSALM 37:4

The Heart Door

Before you answered the door of your heart and let Him in [Revelations 3:20], you were separated from the Father – for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God [Romans 3:23].

When Holiness Came Near

When His holiness came near, His Holy Spirit wooing and drawing you, and you finally had eyes to see yourself, a sinner in need of a Savior, a lawbreaker in need of an Advocate, one dirty in need of washing in His blood, you were broken by your sinful nature, and said YES to Jesus! “Yes, this is what’s been missing. Jesus is who I need.”

Delight Yourself in God

Once we are born again, new creatures in Christ, we enter the narrow path, hand in hand with Jesus. We get to know Him and fall more in love with Him with each passing day. We delight in Him and His ways, and when we truly delight in Him, our desires will not violate His Holy Word and will line up with Him and His plans and purposes for our lives. Those are the desires He says He will give us. Notice Psalm 37:4 does not say needs – no, DESIRES.

The enemy wants you to AGREE to condemn yourself for wanting the VERY desires God wants you to bless you with as you’ve delighted in Him. If the thief can steal our dreams and desires from us and get us to settle, then he also keeps us from fulfilling God’s Psalm 139:16 plans and purposes for our lives.

When His children don’t fulfill what He intended, the kingdom suffers – others aren’t healed, set free, and blessed because of what the enemy stole from YOU! Yes, YOU!

God wants us to dream big for He is the giver of dreams. God wants us to know who we are in Him as His sons and daughters, so we can receive ALL He has for us – needs, desires, gifts, talents, provision, finances, godly marriages (for a power packed, on fire for Him ministry team), and so much more.

Delight in Him and dream BIG!

Lord, I pray I delight in You continually, so I can be blessed in every kingdom manner, having even my desires fulfilled by You. Give me eyes to see every way the enemy seeks to destroy me and steal from me – including my identity in You, my dreams and desires. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
