Matthew 12:9-14, Healing on the Sabbath
Now when Jesus had departed from there, He went into their synagogue. And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—that they might accuse Him.
Then He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other. Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him.
When Jesus, who is the Word made flesh, spoke the Word, the man’s withered hand obeyed Him, THEN he was able to stretch it out, and it was restored as whole.
Application: The Word which is spirit and life spoken in faith and authority is the power heal (creatively too). In Christ, we have His Word and authority to speak it in faith to see body parts and health and souls be made whole!
God is Love and Love loves to heal, deliver, make whole, and set captives free.
What else would the Lord have our hearts see?
- Healing is good! “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him,” (Acts 10:38).
- To be Christlike is to desire to see others be healed and made whole in every way.
- To be inspired and in agreement with the antichrist spirit is to look upon those who are suffering with sickness and bound by the enemy and choose hardness of heart driven by religious traditions and regulations above Christlike love, mercy, and compassion.
- To have a heart like Jesus is to be angry when those who call themselves godly harden their hearts towards those who need healing: “And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other,” (Mark 3:5).
- Jesus healed Him because it was His Father’s will to do so. “Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner,” (John 5:19).
What Jesus DIDN’T say…
- Too bad, so sad. It’s the Father’s will for you to have a withered hand.
- You need that withered hand to be more holy because your righteousness in Me is not enough.
- Come back when you have less sin in your life, then I will heal you.
- Your body doesn’t matter to Me. Only your spirit does.
- See Me in a year and tell Me about all the lessons you’ve learned in life from your withered hand.
