Unbelief and the Words of our Mouth

unbelief and the words of our mouth

The Lord brought together a word last night, 12/7/2019, regarding the oh so fun, yet necessary topic of unbelief and the words of our mouths.

I was talking with the Lord yesterday and asked, “Am I REALLY hearing You talk to me about unbelief almost non-stop? Unbelief, unbelief, unbelief, is what I’m hearing lately.” I didn’t hear back by the Spirit right then that time, but when I got in my car a few hours later, I turned the radio on and within a minute, I heard a woman say this on the radio, “A person we don’t want to imitate is Zacharias because of his unbelief, but we do want to imitate his wife, Elizabeth, because she stayed in faith. She believed the word of the Lord.” (Somewhat paraphrased but accurate).

“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years. And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time,” (Luke 1:13-22).

Elizabeth and Zacharias’s son, John’s birth was extremely important because he was being born to prepare the way of our Lord Jesus.

Because of Zacharias’s unbelief, the Lord temporarily muted him because the words of our mouths are so important (revelation from the Spirit from this situation) and unbelief is very serious and blocks people from receiving from the Lord. He muted him to keep him from speaking unbelief over the miraculous pregnancy of his son, possibly so the enemy wouldn’t use him to prevent conception or destroy the birth with unbelief. Only God knows all the depths as to why, but it was very important that Zacharias NOT be able to speak any unbelief over the conception and pregnancy.

The Word says in Psalm 138:2, “For You have magnified Your Word above all Your name,” and He told me to pray that all His people receive this verse as deep revelation knowledge and take it seriously.

Why is the fact that God magnifies His Word above His name so important? Because His Word says:

“Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief,” (Matthew 13:58).

Unbelief blocks the works of God in our lives because He says so. God will neither violate His Word, the one He exalts above His name, nor a person’s free will choice to reject His Word and will for his/her life because of unbelief. BUT He’s bringing this to our attention for a VERY GOOD reason because He desires to bless us and receive from Him so much.

It’s His will to help us with any unbelief (through the Word, prayer, and sometimes fasting), so we CAN receive from Him. He wants us to receive His promises and for His children to walk in the fullness of their callings as sons and daughters. Hallelujah! We praise You, Lord!

“A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit,” (Proverbs 18:20-21).

Using Zacharias, the Lord is telling us that unbelief and the words of our mouths affect our lives and the outcomes to our prayers and receiving from Him. That His people are not taking Him for His Word on these matters, and He loves us and wants us to.

We look at Proverbs 18:20-21 above and see its GREAT magnitude in our lives:

We are satisfied, filled, and eat of the RESULTS of what we say from our mouths. Are we speaking life (His Word)? Death and unbelief and killing our ability to receive from the Lord based on His Word which He will not violate?

We need not fear but only surrender and ask for help with any unbelief in our lives and with the words of our mouths. We must also prayerfully read and know the Word for ourselves to have more faith and less and less unbelief because the more we know His Word, the more we know His will, and the more we know His will, the more faith we will have, and the more we can pray without unbelief.

I am praying for myself for these things and taking this word from the Lord very seriously and praying it over us and all of God’s people.
