“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” (John 8:32).
Maybe you’ve noticed we live in times where pandering to the feelings of the offended has become a societal disease. Where people call good, evil. And evil, good. Where those who proclaim to be the most tolerant are actually the most intolerant. I sure have.
Through the scriptures, we see Jesus never pandered to the feelings of the offended. He loved people too much to do so. Why? Because the truth of God is what makes people free.
And the truth He shared was such an offense to some that a large crowd shouted “Crucify Him!” again and again.
“Pilate answered and said to them again, “What then do you want me to do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?” So they cried out again, “Crucify Him!” Then Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, “Crucify Him!” (Mark 15:12-14)
As a writer for the Lord and ambassador for Christ [2 Cor. 5:20], it’s also my job to share God’s truth and never pander to the feelings of the offended. Why? Because of the overflow of Christ’s heart in me, I too want to help make people free.
And I can’t do that worrying about people’s feelings. I’m not going to withhold the life and health of God’s healing Word because of the offense of a few.
Beloved parent in Christ, praying for Healing from Autism for Your Child? You Report to God. NOT the Autism Community.
On multiple occasions, I’ve been verbally attacked by people in the autism community for posts like this one and others like it on this blog. And it merely rolls of my well-oiled eagle feathers into the dust where it belongs.
I don’t reply to them or try to argue my point. I simply shake the dust off my feet, and say, “Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.” No one, and I mean no one is going to be used by satan to get me to deny the atoning blood of Jesus Christ for physical healing – including healing from autism spectrum DISORDER.
In many cases, those in the autism community who attack parents for wanting their kids healed and well are highly functional.
For example, I read one article where a woman with autism went to college, was married, was able to work, and had a child. In it she said, “If you know one person with autism. You know one person with autism,” in one breath, then went on to attack parents who want their “child fixed” or healed in another.
Hold on. “Didn’t you just admit that no two people with autism are alike?” I said aloud and huffed. “Yes,” I answered for her. “Then, who died and made you the boss of autism? Who gave you permission to speak for anyone else with autism? Exactly no one. Lord Jesus, help these people.”
Many with the disease of high offense also elect themselves as bosses of issues.
They often treat others as if they report to them regarding their feelings and opinions on a matter. And believe they have the right to attack you if you disagree with them.
I just don’t even care one bit.
The many precious mothers I’ve befriended have children or young adults afflicted with autism spectrum disorder that are not highly functional. Some still need diapers in their twenties. No one has a right to speak for them or their children! No one has the right to attack and shame them for wanting their child well. Some of these beautiful sisters in Christ have had to call the police on their own children who were beating them up or destroying their homes, the fathers at work unable to assist them.
Boy does my righteous anger kick in on behalf of these mothers when someone tries to rebuke them for wanting their children healed, independent, able to marry, and have their own children. Get. Behind. Me. Satan is what comes to mind.
And as a mother who is standing for her own son – “By His stripes my son was healed,” (1 Peter 2:24) is my truth because it’s God’s truth. And glory to God, my son is doing the best he’s been in 5 years. Oh the tears begin to flow now. Glory to God!
The only thing that gets to give an answer for my son? The atoning blood and stripes of Jesus Christ.
I report to the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus.
And my only standard of truth is what He says it is. Not feelings. Not what someone else believes.
Dear praying parent, if you’re standing on the Word of God based on the finished work of Jesus Christ always remember, you report to God. Not the autism community and surely not autism itself.
Jesus teaches us that all sickness, disease, and disorders are works of the devil.
THE TRUTH THAT SETS YOU FREE IS FOUND IN THE WORD OF GOD – TRUTH THAT I WON’T ALLOW ANYONE TO GET ME TO DENY:
- Acts 10:38 – “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
- Luke 13:16 – “So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?”
- 1 John 3:8 – “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
The Word of God is clear: All sickness, disease, and disorders – including autism – are works of the devil.
So, if someone wants to praise and glorify a work of the devil in their own body or child’s in ignorance, that’s their personal choice. But as children of God, we are not called to be ignorant of His Word.
Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
When standing on a promise of God for healing, we too must choose.
Are we going to choose life? The truth of God’s Word. Receive the stripes of Jesus for our child’s healing by faith.
Or death? Fear of man and cowering to their mere opinions and accepting a work of the devil in our child’s body.
P.S. Healing can be progressive or can take time. This never negates His promise to heal. Don’t settle or give up before you receive the promise for your child by making declarations such as, “It must not be God’s will.” The Word says, “We must believe in order to receive.”
How can a promise of God that’s His will not be His will? It can’t. So hold on dear mama or papa, fill up with the Word, so you are not moved by what you see – symptoms going up and down – but that your faith is moved up and up by the life and truth of His Truth.
I wrote a book called, “Head to Toe Healing from Autism and Other Neuroimmune Disorders – A Book of 31 Scriptural Prayers for Your Child.” It has teachings on faith and prayers of faith for your child for healing from autism spectrum disorder and other neuroimmune disorders like it (PANDAS, etc.).
