Light and Treacherous People [and a short prayer for Christlike friends]

Wow! Heard a teaching recently and sadly have found what is quoted below to be true. Many Christians behave no differently than the world. One of the most difficult things I’ve struggled with as a believer is finding true, loyal Christlike friends. The types of people who don’t gossip, etc. etc. But I do pray for the Lord to connect me to them.

Sadly, many Christians are fair-weather friends who take what they can get from you, and when they don’t need you any more – such as hours and hours of your prayer time together – they move on. Often onto the next person they believe they can get something from until they no longer need them either.

Also, I used to have a Christian prayer group several years ago that was a secret group and MULTIPLE times, the “Christians” in there would copy and paste my writing onto their personal pages/profiles and claim it as their own. It got so frustrating, I ended up deleting the group completely.

Today, I pray the Lord surrounds you with true, Christlike friends who love Jesus and love you as they love themselves in Jesus’ name, amen.

Here’s that quote that I too have sadly experienced many times…

“A brother who is here this morning worked close to me, said this to me. I don’t think he really realized what he was saying, but he said—and I hope you’ll accept this. I’m not blaming him for it because I’m quoting it. But he said, “In the prophets [I think it’s Jeremiah], it talks about light and treacherous people. My experience is most Christians are light and treacherous people.”…But basically I think the big problem with Christians today is summed up in those words light and treacherous persons. “God bless you brother, but if I feel like stabbing you in the back, I’ll do it.”

Now I mean, I have a wide experience and I’m not a cynical person. Very rarely do you hear me being cynical. But I have to say basically I do not trust Christians. And I’ve met thousands of them. Now I don’t say that to be negative, I say God has got to do something in it. What is it? Endurance. Stability, reliability.”
