If we are believing God for healing based on His Word, we must be very careful who we listen to and follow as far as teachers of the Word and even on social media. The church is filled with the opinions of man about sickness and healing that are unscriptural and often leading God’s people astray when one doesn’t get the Word rooted in oneself FOR oneself. The Word instructs us to test all that we are taught by searching the scriptures to MAKE SURE what we are being taught is His truth.
God’s people must stop looking to others to tell them what to believe but to look to God alone that He tells us what to believe.
I just feel so strongly from the Lord that we must speak very plainly and not tiptoe around the truth as too many of God’s people have been and are perishing for lack of knowledge. And a HUGE area the enemy brings confusion to, even deceiving the very elect, is regarding what God says about sickness and healing. Too many are easily being led astray about this.
As His children and representatives in the earth, we must take much better care with our handling of our words as to not mispresent God and His Holy truth. And His truth is that His children are called to hate all sickness because it’s of sin at its root – as in since the fall of man. Death came into the world THROUGH sin.
“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned,” (Romans 5:12).
Sickness is a form of death, is referred to by God as a curse, and oppression by the devil.
So why God’s own children seem to love to draw so much attention to sickness, in even a remotely positive way, is baffling.
Again, since sickness came into the world THROUGH sin. And sin and all the “grew” out of it – sickness, evil, death – is of the devil, why are God’s people so inclined to refer to sickness – a work of the devil as per God – as a blessing or something to thank God for? God says sickness is a curse (see Deuteronomy 28 – sickness falls under the “curses” category not the blessing category) and of the satanic oppression (Acts 10:38).
The Word and the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ clearly tells us how to both define sickness and what to do with it.
Sickness = a curse; satanic oppression; a work of the devil born through sin at the fall of man
Jesus says: Heal the sick, pray a prayer of faith so those who are sick may be healed, by My stripes, you were healed.
Nowhere does Jesus teach us under the New Covenant (what we are under now) to praise Him for sickness because He attributes it to a work of the devil.
Let’s create an example of some “bad doctrine speech” (unscriptural opinions of man) you can easily find on social media, so we can see how crazy it sounds when made plain and in line with the Word:
False doctrine example 1:
“I’d rather have this sickness in my body than _____.”
Sickness = a work of the devil according to God.
Translation: “I’d rather have this “work of the devil” in my body than ____.” I left a blank because I have heard a myriad of reasons for someone believing they need to punish themselves with sickness.
Jesus’ truth says: “I bore all the curse of the law on My body for you. The curse includes sickness, so I bore that sickness and punishment for you. I took your place. By My blood and My stripes (broken and torn up body), you were forgiven and healed (Isaiah 53; 1 Peter 2:24). By faith, you can exchange that sickness for what I purchased for you – healing. My finished work of the cross and My shed blood are not only big enough to heal you (and did) but are also big enough to deliver you from the sins you are struggling with (and did). My child, why do you insist on listening to a religious, demonic spirits and those influenced by them telling you that you need to be punished with sickness when I bore ALL punishment for you? When will you believe, like a little child, that my Word and grace are not too good to be true? That I am mighty to save? That I came to give you life and life more abundantly (John 10:10)? Let your faith meet my grace (undeserved favor and help) and receive healing from sickness and deliverance from sin. I command all My children to heal the sick not let My children suffer with sickness that I paid for healing for on My body. This includes you and my children around you.”
False doctrine example 2: “I praise God for this sickness He gave me to teach me a lesson.”
Translation: “I praise God for this “work of the devil” He gave me to teach me a lesson.”
Jesus’ truth says: “I came to destroy the works of the devil. The works of the devil are sin and everything that grew out of it – evil, sickness, death, etc. My kingdom has no agreement with the devil’s as a kingdom divided cannot stand. When some speak anything positive about sickness, they are speaking positive about its origin – sin and the devil. You see who the author of this confusion is – the devil – not I AM. I healed you with My stripes (1 Peter 2:24). Past tense. Receive you healing by faith. Stop punishing yourself – that’s religion. That’s why I rebuked the Pharisees. Accept what I already did for you. I know you think you don’t deserve it, but that’s My grace – paid in full for you. My love is so great you cannot fathom it – only believe Me.”
Christian’s who dote on and call sickness a blessing or anything at all positive are actually praising sin a work of the devil.
Think of it!
We must know the Word for ourselves, so we don’t fall victim to the influence of these religious demonic spirits that have even infiltrated the church.
God hates sin. Sickness entered the world through sin because of the devil (so if of the same root). The Word says we are to hate what God hates.
“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil,” (1 John 3:8).
God hates the works of the devil and sent His son to destroy them. God doesn’t expect us to refer to a work of the devil – sickness – as a blessing, to praise Him for it, etc. His will is that sin and all that “grew” out of it be destroyed.
If someone does praise Him for sickness, they are expressing their personal opinion, not His Holy Words about it.
They are also disbelieving (unbelief):
By Jesus’ stripes, we were healed, that Jesus took all the curse for them, that they are under the new covenant of grace, and denying His very name – Healer (Jehovah Rapha).
Healing is not based on deserve but what on Jesus already did – grace. Receive it by faith. No buts.
Here’s an example in the Word of God of man expressing an opinion about God that is not of God nor His truth. He recorded this in His Word so that we can see they were just like us, saying opinions about God that are not His truth:
“But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me,” (Ruth 1:20).
The truth was God never told Naomi and her family to go to the godless land of Moab, a people group who hated the children of Israel and worshiped false gods. They chose to go there by their own free will and were met with much trouble and tragedy there.
Also His truth, Naomi couldn’t yet see it, the moment she decided to return to Bethlehem, “the house of bread,” God was setting her up for a redemption so great He recorded an entire book about it in His Word as a shadow (though an utterly beautiful one) of the ultimate redemption through Jesus Christ.
You can read my post here about Naomi and Ruth to better see how Naomi was merely expressing an opinion about God and His dealings with her and not His Words.
I pray this Holy Spirit led post blessed you.
Prayer
Father, I pray Your people know Your Word and truth regarding sickness and say what You say about it as to not lead others astray, and do what You told us to do about it – heal the sick – in Jesus’ name, amen.
