Chapter 10: Robbed of the Power to Say (More Proof for Parents of Children Who Have Non-verbal Autism)

So, Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done,” (Matthew 21:21).

My heart aches reading the words of parents who long to hear their children of varying ages, including adults, be able to say, “mom or dad.”

Children robbed of their God-given power to say is a valuable spoil to the kingdom of darkness, holding voices captive, keeping them from unleashing “the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God,” (Ephesians 6:17) from their lips for the destruction of their evil works, “for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places,” (Ephesians 6:12).

God tells us much about the vitally important power to say given to us. He desires for us to use it and made a way through His Son, Jesus, for all to do so.

Let’s have a look at some verses that tell us God’s will for all and their power to say [any emphasis of mine in brackets]:

“If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you,” (Matthew 17:21).

“With the fruit of a person’s mouth [words] his stomach will be satisfied; He will be satisfied with the product of his lips [words]. Death and life are in the power of the tongue [the words we say], and those who love it will eat its fruit,” (Proverbs 18:20-21 NASB).

“One who guards his mouth and his tongue [his words], guards his soul [mind, will, and emotions] from troubles,” (Proverbs 21:23 NASB).

“The mouth [words] of the upright will rescue them,” (Proverbs 12:6).

“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones,” (Proverbs 16:24).

It’s God’s will for all people to have the ability to apply the verses you’ve just read to their lives. By faith, He wants us to possess and enforce His Word and will in the lives of children whose power to say has been stolen.

We must have warrior spirits as David did, the cost is too high, too precious, not to. “And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all,” (1 Samuel 30:19).

Jesus paid with His broken and striped body, His spilled blood, with His very death, and was raised again so we too may recover all – “nothing lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil [including the power to say] or anything they have taken from them.” A child’s God-ordained power to say is of utmost importance to our good Heavenly Father, and it’s a spoil He desires every parent recover in full on behalf of their children who’ve been robbed.
