Get Behind Me, Satan: For You Are Not Mindful of the Things of God

There are times when I receive messages from parents where they’re really struggling with their faith. They’re weary, confused, and even angry with God. If that’s you, I want to say from the start: I understand. I relate. This is not coming from condemnation. My heart is to be a blessing and to share wisdom the Lord has shared with me as I sought Him in His Word.

When I read what they share, I am sometimes led by the Lord to ask a few simple, but revealing questions: Where do you go to church? What are you allowing into your heart? Does your church even believe that healing is for today, for all, and from every single condition, including from ASD?

Often the answer is:
“No, my church doesn’t believe healing is for today,” or, “No, they say God can heal, but it’s not always His will,” or, “They believe everything that happens is preordained by God and my child’s sickness is His will.”

This grieves my heart. Sometimes, from lack of knowledge, parents don’t realize that words are seeds. And seeds grow in our hearts.

If the seeds we hear are the Seed of God’s Word, then praise God, if we mix His Word with heart-believing faith and stand without doubting, then we will bear and see good fruit. Faith and patience inherit His promises, the Word says.

However, if the seeds are lies that exalt themselves against God’s Word on healing, those lies can cause double-mindedness and unbelief. It’s possible to mix heart-belief with those lies which then become thorns in the heart that choke out the Word because we’ve often come out of agreement with His Word and into agreement with the devil’s lies (Matthew 13:22).

Jesus Shows Us How to Guard Our Heart Against the Devil’s Attempts to Steal His Word from Our Heart

Let’s go to the Word of God. Let’s look at Peter, the disciple who got a direct revelation from the Father that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the Living God (Matthew 16:16–17).

Then what happened? Just a few verses later, Jesus began to tell His disciples plainly that the Son of Man must suffer many things, be killed, and be raised again (v. 21). But Peter—this same Peter—took Him aside and rebuked Him! He rebuked the very Word he’d just heard. He said, “No, Lord! That shall never happen to You.”

Jesus turned and said: “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” (Matthew 16:23)

Peter didn’t realize it, but he had come into agreement with the devil’s lie. He had just heard God’s Word from the mouth of God Himself: From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day,” (Matthew 16:21), and despite that, Peter immediately spoke against the Word! Selah.

Peter may have thought he was being kind and compassionate. But he had embraced a thought planted by Satan and spoke it aloud as though it was truth.

How does this apply to parents who desire to see their child healed?

You read God’s Word. You see that Jesus healed all who came to Him. You begin to believe. You say based on God’s Word and revealed will, “Autism is not God’s will. Jesus bore this at the Cross. Healing is for all. Healing is for my child. Hallelujah!”

Your heart starts burning with His fire, with His truth. The Spirit of Truth is driving out unbelief. You’re standing on the Word. You’re saying, “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief. I want to keep studying and growing.”

And then—just like with Peter—Satan comes, using one of his demonic spirits from his dark kingdom. BUT, he’s not going to use a Baal worshiper. He’s not going to send a witch or a Satanist.

No, if you’re a believer, he’s going to use someone close to you.
He’s going to use a pastor.
He’s going to use other Christians.
He’s going to use someone with theological degrees.
In the same manner he attempted to use Peter, His disciple, against Jesus Christ!

He’s going to use someone who doesn’t actually believe the Word of God. And they are going to say things like:

  • “What do you mean, you’re standing for healing from autism? That’s just who they are.”
  • “That’s how God made them.”
  • “That’s God’s will. He gave you this child for a reason.”
  • “God gives special children to special people.”
  • “You can’t really believe for healing. It’s only if it be God’s will.”

Those words, directly contradict the revealed Word and will of God. Just like Peter’s words did when he repeated the devil’s lie. Their words may even sound sentimental, nice, caring, or even humble, but they exalt themselves against the knowledge of God, and, therefore are from Satan.

Jesus did not entertain Peter’s words for a moment. He did not say, “Oh Peter, you’re so sweet. I know you love Me.” No. He immediately shut it down: “Get behind Me, Satan! You are not mindful of the things of God.”

That’s what we must do too. If they get offended, too bad, so sad, the Word and our children are more important than someone’s “feelings” under the influence of lies from the devil.

We must guard our heart. We must shut down lies, even when they come from believers.

Do not let people pour their unbelief into your heart. It can create doubt, and double-mindedness that leads to unbelief which is a rejection of God’s Word for oneself via deception.

Dear parent, what would the Lord lead you to do if you inquired of Him? Would He tell you to sit in a church that pour lies against His Son’s healing victory into your heart? Lies that say “God chooses who to heal if He feels like it” instead of by His stripes, we WERE healed. Lies that say healing isn’t for everyone or that sickness somehow glorifies God.

As for me, I wouldn’t care if I’d been going to a church for 20 years. I don’t care if all my friends were there. If they were feeding my heart lies that contradict God’s Word and the healing power of Jesus Christ, I wouldn’t put up with it. I wouldn’t expose my heart and my child’s to lying seeds from the pit of hell.

My response would be: Bye-bye!!!

I take guarding my heart as seriously because the Word tell us to. The devil may whisper, “But they’ll be offended if you leave your church. They’ll gossip about you.” Great! Praise God! Blessed are we when we are persecuted by people for His Name’s sake. Let them. The integrity of God’s Holy Name and Word are more important than people’s feelings. Our children’s health and deliverance are more important than staying where lies are spoken against the Word, against the healing you are standing on for your child.

Sometimes, it can be family members that Satan uses to try to steal the Seed of the Word from your heart, and yes, we shut them down too but as lovingly as possible, but we must!

Guard your heart. Guard your heart. Guard your heart! It’s up to you to guard your heart.

So the next time someone tells you that autism is just “who your child is.” That it’s somehow beautiful and special. That disorder is God’s will when His Word says, “He is not the author of disorder but of peace,” (1 Corinthians 14:33). That it’s just “part of your family’s calling” or that “God gave it for a reason”…

You answer like Jesus did: “That is not what the Word of God says. The Word says Jesus bore our sicknesses and carried our pains. He was wounded for our transgressions. By His stripes, we were healed. And ‘we’ means my child too. Any other report is NOT of God.”

You shut it down. With grace. With boldness. But you shut it down just like our Lord taught us!

You don’t need to be mean. But you do need to be firm. Do not entertain any lies against Christ’s healing for even a moment, otherwise they can grow in your heart like weeds. And they’ll choke out the Word that was planted.

Faith comes by hearing and so does unbelief. Be mindful of the things of God. Do not entertain words that exalt themselves against His healing promises. If Jesus wouldn’t receive or acknowledge them at all, you shouldn’t either.

Get behind me, Satan. You are not mindful of the things of God but of man!

I have LITERALLY told people – Christians – that spoke lies to me against Christ’s healing: Your words are from Satan, not God! Yes, I said Satan. Not that they were Satan, but what they spoke was from him, not God’s Word, His revealed will on healing.

As for me…

Daily, I get the Word of God into my heart. I either read the Word directly or listen to teachings that do not attack the Word. To teachers who believe that healing is included in Christ’s redemption. Not just for some. Not just for certain diseases. Healing is for all. Healing is for every kind of condition, including birth defects. There is nothing that Christ excluded. There is nothing He didn’t defeat.

So I keep putting the Word into my heart, watering it and planting it daily. I do not watch or listen to teachings that contradict God’s Word. I do not sit in churches that contradict God’s Word. If someone comes with Satan’s lying report, I shut it down and refuse it immediately.

This is my heart soil. I am guarding my heart. The Lord made it my responsibility to do so.

Yes, it takes effort to guard your heart. It takes diligence to keep unbelief out. It takes vigilance because the enemy roams around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). This is not legalism or works. It’s wisdom. It’s using the Word of God as our armor.

We must be wise about the enemy’s devices because he will come. And he will come through Christians who don’t know the Word of God, those who’ve been deceived by the religious traditions and teachings of man. And anyone can be deceived.

For me personally, I won’t even watch TV shows or movies about people being sick. Why?

Because in those stories, they never glorify God’s healing power. They glorify and magnify the sickness. They present the doctor’s report as the end-all, be-all, final say so and death sentence. They never acknowledge the healing power of Jesus Christ. They seed unbelief, not faith. They call the person defeated by the enemy’s sickness. Period.

I don’t put that in my heart. I guard my heart like Jesus did. Because that’s where the Seed of God’s Word must grow. Because, why would I voluntarily plant lies in my heart that contradict my Savior?

Let God be true and every man a liar (Romans 3:4). Put His truth in your heart, and only His truth. Put on the full armor of God. Resist the enemy, and he will flee. And stand firm on the truth that healing was paid for at the Cross and sealed by His victorious resurrection.

Guard your heart. Guard your heart. Guard your heart! It’s up to you to guard your heart.

Amen,Amen Amen 🙏, holy spear and spoke into you, wisdom wisdom. That’s like. Oh, that was beautiful. That is so true because people have done that to me. I used to be a Catholic so I used to pray differently. Now I speak to it, and um, which I believe she is healed, no matter what I see, and every word you spoke is exactly what I said, Hey, I don’t have any business go in those comments sections. As these parents here are using zeolite, and clay for their children’s heal and understand they want them well and everything and but they need to take gods word. First years ago I was offered that for my daughter and zeolite some parents sued and found something wrong with it, but these are new parents and so I put in there and I talk about my daughter, I call my daughter heal no matter what she says. I was in the grocery store yesterday shopping. All of a sudden came to me. Your daughter is here and the day before that and the day before that your daughter is healed. And I believe that my daughter could be cranky, and I still call her healed well, I used to be cranky when I was a child. Um, but I didn’t have that diagnose, and I say my daughter doesn’t have that diagnose, because Jesus carried for the Calvert, he took care of it and it was something else, this hill article of something else and like, what could you said about family? My family has done the same thing to me. But sometimes they will start fighting. They’ll stop fighting using cruel words and what you’re saying. Also, when I go to a doctor also spoke to me about that. Like they like to get after me about my cholesterol. Now I will not take a cholesterol pill one time it made me sick. I mean, I couldn’t we use my body, get up and take care of my daughter. Forgive me for this being so long but it was absolutely beautiful. Everything well said. Everything you didn’t leave anything else. Guard your heart, but I will say this here. This woman here used to bother me and she delivered the mail and she’ll look at me, my daughter and I mean, and she was sake, the opposite of what we’re saying, I’m not gonna say she said. And but I wish I answered her like that. I didn’t say anything to it but I knew better. I knew better. My daughter’s age has got nothing to do with her healing. And when you have an adult and you’re not giving app, some people really can’t treat you mean and call you crazy, they don’t understand I believe the word of God. I personally have had miracles for myself. Yesterday, the day before and the day before after that, the Holy Spirit told my daughter’s healed. I know what I heard I was shopping yesterday. I was cleaning up and I was writing my diary for my daughter about her and I heard it then. Also, that one Romans let every man be a liar. Let gods word be true to every man a liar. That’s one that I speak over. That’s one that I say also and now forgive me, I just loved what I’ve read. You just outdid yourself, love it, absolutely love it.😀🙏📖✝️🔥🕊

He Healed Them ALL

“Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner,” (John 5:19).

Jesus only did what He saw the Father do, so He healed every kind of sickness and every kind of disease, every kind of disability, even if they were born that way.
