Why has much of the church been so blind and passive towards children and young adults afflicted with autism spectrum disorder? The Lord showed me it is because autism spectrum disorder also takes captive a child’s soul – mind, will, emotions. Thus, giving a false appearance or representation of a child and his or her personality and nature.
A quick aside and reminder here, “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,” (1 Thessalonians 5:23). The soul is separate from the spirit. The spirit is who we really are, the eternal us, the part that is born-again when we confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9-10; 13).
