Parents standing on the Word of God MUST guard their hearts from the world’s ways of thinking who tends to put their identity, worth, and value in everything but Jesus Christ.
If every Christian and Christian home taught identity, worth, and value in Jesus ALONE, then it would be almost impossible to offend them. But the enemy seeks to bring division and confusion by deceiving and inspiring even God’s people into having their identity in things other than Him.
That’s why in my personal walk and books, the Holy Spirit strongly spoke to me and said that parents seeking their children’s healing from autism spectrum disorder must NEVER allow it to become their child’s identity in any way, including referring to them as autistic for it is constantly establishing it as their identity and staying in agreement with a disorder for him or her.
Joel 2:28-29
And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.
And also on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
Recently, I had some dialog with a brother in Christ who has autism and disagrees with the messages I share about healing from all manner of sickness, disease, and disorder that include autism spectrum disorder among those things that Jesus paid for healing from by His stripes (1 Peter 2:24. I strongly disagree of course and refuse to be in the “camp” that redefines sickness to something outside of God’s Word.
After the dialog ended, I was talking to the Lord about it, and He reminded me of identity in Christ alone. That if this well meaning young man had his identity solely in Christ, he never would have commented what he did to begin with. But since he clearly places a great measure of his identity, worth, and value autism in place of Jesus, that he is bothered by teachings regarding healing from it.
One with their identity 100% in Christ truly wouldn’t care either way if parents are seeking healing from autism spectrum disorder.
The young man also believes or was taught that because he and his cousin have autism spectrum disorder that they have a special gift that places them in a special category of people with abilities above and beyond the Holy Spirit by which they can connect with God better “than typical people” and better exhibit the fruits of the Spirit. This of course is a false doctrine inspired by the enemy to hold children captive to his disorder.
I replied to him that I outright reject that doctrine that he believes and that it is the Holy Spirit + nothing = everything we need to connect with God and be Christlike to others.
You can view the entire dialog here. I covered up his name of course.
Another example of this type of thinking would be a time when another man commented on one of my videos: “You’re a woman, so what you are teaching can’t be from God.”
I literally laughed out loud at the lunacy of his words because he was relegating the power of God to the flesh or person’s gender instead of 100% to the Holy Spirit alone. As if because I am a woman that makes the Holy Spirit’s ability to work through me defective or less than or that I am incapable of hearing from the Holy Spirit as I read His Word.
Even more comically that because he has a certain “private part” that I don’t, he believes the Holy Spirit is able to work better through him. That being male puts him in a better, special category that enables him to better hear from God and be used by Him. Lord Jesus, I know You chuckled at that one too! Relationship. NOT religion. Thank You, Lord!
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus,” (Galatians 3:28).
May the church rightly divide the Word of God on healing, identity, worth, and value in Christ, and so much more!
